Something to be aware of: The script in that google sheet will send your GitHub token unencrypted to some Yandex Cloud server. This means that your token can be seen by:
- Whoever owns that server
- Anyone at Yandex who has access to the logs
- Anyone spying on the traffic anywhere between your computer and the server
All of these people could, if they choose, use your token can take actions as you on your GitHub account.
Different people (and their employers) have different risk profiles. If you have a throwaway GitHub profile for sourcing, using the script may be fine! If you are using a company-provisioned GitHub account, using the script may make corporate IT/Security very unhappy.
I am working on a theory, creating talent growth hubs in South Africa, India and parts of LATAM and "exporting" skills to other regions where we have skills shortages as part of our global mobility strategy 😁
Yes but more children would’ve made it harder to work. And it’s the women who get penalised in the workplace so having more children is not the answer even if you made it easier. Women still carry the bulk of child rearing.
yes indeed, we need to confront this reality. The biggest issue we have is that we have created a society which is optimised for single atomic childless individuals, and then expect people with kids - especially mothers - do compete as if all things were equal.
Social security structure of the western world is primarily based on the assumption that the tax paying generation is larger in number than the aging. With the demographics changing fast in the other direction, the taxation system at its core needs to get a rethink. Not something that can be achieved short term.
Imho, this in combination with most of the options you mentioned above could lead to a solution. The policy makers and head of states could benefit from working with mathematicians and physicists who specialize in running simulations of predictive financial models.
indeed; in think India is only major economy which population growth is robust. Does this conversation occur there, are people aware of the 'demographic dividend' or do we also need to challenge that narrative Debolina?
I have been out of the country for a fair amount of time now so my information might not be very accurate. But I do not see this being a topic of discussion in India. In spite of being a major economy, people need to mostly rely on their own savings for any quality of life. Sad but true.
Individual taxation is high and with a robust population growth the department of finance is covered for the foreseeable future.

love it. 100% would move to Western Cape, beautiful part of the world. Also I am going to Colombia later this year!
Oh awesome! Colombia is on my bucket list 😁
I am particularly interested in the ex-teacher exploration, a population badly in need of greater attention in the US. Thank you as always, Hung.
underpaid everywhere, yet we all recall that teacher who made a difference (good or bad!) to our destiny. Super important influence
1 child was more than enough for me. But I love living in my multicultural city, so more immigrants please!
Tom is a great value add!

Very interesting and important topic, Hung.
